Investigation into man begging with child

Investigations are underway to trace a man begging in Edenvale and Bedfordview with a child who appears to be disabled.

The man has been spotted on several occasions.

According to Avenues resident Ms Judy Mogg, the child appears to be immobile.

When she recently stopped to question the man, he said he was on the way to Greenstone to collect Aids medication.

“He was walking in the opposite direction of Greenstone. Then he disappeared,” said Ms Mogg.

The NEWS contacted Child Welfare SA – Edenvale.

A social worker with the organisation, Mr Gerald Mvundura, has launched an investigation in to the matter.

He urged residents to contact the organisation immediately when the man is seen in the area.

“We would like to conduct a full investigation into this matter but we have been unable to trace the man,” said Mr Mvundura.

If the man is seen in Edenvale, residents can contact the offices of Child Welfare SA – Edenvale on 011 452-5940/1.

If the man is spotted over weekend’s, residents are asked to take down specific details, including the time and exact place the man was seen.
