Drugs, firearms found

Three men were arrested for possession, dealing in drugs and the negligent handling of firearms on April 9.

According to Constable Mpho Mashakane, the Cleveland SAPS communications officer, members of the Johannesburg Flying Squad received information from the Crime Intelligence Unit about illegal activities taking place at a shop in Oriental Plaza, Bruma.

“The officers went to the plaza and found three people at the shop. The business was searched and three rifles and ammunition were found lying on a table,” said Const Mashakane.

The firearms were verified and found to be licensed.

Const Mashakane added that 22 small packets of a white substance, believed to be cocaine, and Unites States Dollars were also found.

The men, two aged 45 and one 50, were charged with possession and dealing in drugs, along with the negligent handling of firearms.
