Man tries to sell stolen car

A man was arrested after police officers found him in possession of a stolen car in Yeoville.

The suspect was trying to sell the car to an unsuspecting member of the public.

“The would-be buyer asked to check if the vehicle really belonged to the suspect. He then took the information to the Yeoville SAPS to verify the ownership status of the vehicle. It was discovered that the vehicle had been reported as stolen in Pretoria West in 2011,” said Constable Thabo Malatji, of the Yeoville SAPS.

The seller of the vehicle was subsequently arrested. “The vehicle was confiscated and the suspect is expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of being in possession of a stolen vehicle,” said Const Malatji.
