Corruption within the Jeppe SAPS will not be tolerated.

Brigadier Govindsamy Mariemuthoo, the Jeppe SAPS station commander, highlighted his stance on corruption at a recent Sector 1 Crime Forum meeting held at the Mandeville Sports Centre.

He urged the community to report corrupt police officers. He also told the community to join hands in the fight against crime by reporting crime and forming street committees and reservists.

Residents are urged to attend their local sector meetings.

The Sector 1 Crime Sub Forum meeting was held at the Mandeville Sports Centre on March 19 but attendance was not as good as the sector meeting held at the Hofland Park Recreation Centre.

People who attended the meeting were informed about crime in the precinct.

Residents were also informed that Mr Navin Bachu, from the Western Kensington Residents’ Association (WKRA), is now the acting chairperson of the Jeppe Community Police Forum (JCPF). Pastor Albert Yende, who was the chairperson, has resigned.

The JCPF annual general meeting will take place after the national elections.
