Jeppe SAPS seized firearms

The Jeppe SAPS recently arrested three people in separate incidents for the possession of unlicensed firearms.

The arrests were made during an operation called ‘Siyabangena’. On March 21, police officers received information about firearms at a house in Jacoba Street, Troyeville.

They went to the house and conducted a search.

“Officers found three nine millimetre pistols, one with 10 rounds, one with eight rounds and another with four live rounds of ammunition.

“Two suspects, aged 35 and 30, were arrested,” said Warrant Officer Richard Munyai, the Jeppe SAPS communications officer.

On March 26, police officers arrested a man (50) for the possession of an unlicensed firearm. “Police officers were patrolling at the corner of John Page and Fox streets when they saw a suspicious looking man. They searched him and found a nine millimetre pistol with a magazine of live rounds. The serial number on the firearm was filed off,” said W/O Munyai.

The suspect was arrested and charged with the possession of an unlicensed firearm.
