Robberies after cash withdrawals increase

Anyone who suspects they are being followed from banks should contact the Edenvale SAPS sector police vehicles immediately.

Residents are urged to be careful when banking at major shopping centres in Edenvale.

“There has been an increase in cases reported where residents were followed from banks in Edenvale,” said the acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts.

“We urge all residents who plan to withdraw large sums of money to be careful and alert of their surroundings at all times,” he said.

Anyone who suspects they are being followed from banks should contact the Edenvale SAPS sector police vehicles immediately.

“Alternatively, residents can contact their respective security providers,” said Lt Col Roberts.

“Anyone who feels they are being followed from the bank must not drive home. They should rather take down a description of the vehicle and drive to the nearest police station,” he added.

Edenvale residents living or working in Marais Steyn Park, Dowerglen, Dunvegan, Elma Park or the part of the Avenues from Horwood Street to Hendrik Potgieter Street fall under Sector 1. Edenvale Hospital and Sizwe Hospital also fall under Sector 1. Sector 1 vehicle contact numbers are 071 675 6840 and 071 675 6841.

Edenvale residents living or working in Greenstone, Eastleigh, Illiondale, De Klerk’s Hof and the part of the Avenues from Hendrik Potgieter Street to Aitken Road fall under Sector 2. Sector 2 vehicle contact numbers are 071 675 6842 and 071 675 6843.

Edenvale residents living or working in Isandovale, Harmelia, Highway Gardens, Edenglen or Hurlyvale fall under Sector 3. Sector 3 vehicle contact numbers are 071 675 6844 or 071 675 6845.
