The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) last week appointed six contractors to do meter readings in Ekurhuleni.
The contracts will run from March 2014 to June 2016.
Ralai’s Investmets CC and Baatshuma Electrical (Pty) Ltd have been appointed to cover the Edenvale area.
The EMM has appealed to residents to cooperate with company representatives by granting them access to their properties to avoid interims.
For security reasons, residents are advised to always request identification before granting meter readers access into their property.
As a form of identification, company representatives will be carrying identity cards bearing the Ekurhuleni logo, which will also reflect the telephone numbers which can be contacted for confirmation.
In addition, meter readers will wear t-shirts branded with logos of the contracting companies appointed.
Meter readers will operate between 8am and 5pm on weekdays and when needed, on weekends.
Where necessary, the meter readers will be required to do after-hour readings as per arrangement with the clients.
