Dog attack victim assaulted

Following the incident, a woman and two men assaulted the security guard. They sprayed the guard with pepper spray, beat him and swore at him.

A security guard working at his post in Harcas Street, Bedfordview, was attacked by two pitbull dogs on March 2.

According to the Bedfordview SAPS communications officer, Sergeant Mduduzi Nhlabathi, the man defended himself with his firearm when the two dogs attacked him.

“He shot at one of the dogs, wounding it in the shoulder. The other dog fled,” said Sgt Nhlabathi.

Following the incident, a woman and two men assaulted the security guard. They sprayed the guard with pepper spray, beat him and swore at him. The attackers then vandalised his vehicle.

The side view mirrors and radio were broken. The number plates were also removed.

“The three culprits were arrested and appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court. They are currently out on bail,” said Sgt Nhlabathi.
