Short story workshop at Writers 2000

Mr Robbins is a writer who has published 18 books, including travel, history, biography, fiction and socio-political analysis. In addition, he has written hundreds of articles on subjects ranging from culture and the arts to the major development issues confronting the developing world.

Writers 2000 will be running a workshop on Short Story Writing on Saturday, March 29.

The workshop will be presented by Mr David Robbins of Porcupine Press, and is open to anyone interested in the topic.

Mr Robbins is a writer who has published 18 books, including travel, history, biography, fiction and socio-political analysis. In addition, he has written hundreds of articles on subjects ranging from culture and the arts to the major development issues confronting the developing world.

His articles have been published in leading South African newspapers, as well as South African, British and American journals. His special focus areas includes housing, urbanisation, local government, education, transport, economic development and health. With his wealth of writing experience, the workshop promises to be an excellent learning opportunity for writers and potential writers.

Mr Robbins and his wife Gail, also run the small publishing house Porcupine Press and he is a member of the board of The Development Connection, a Section 21 company devoted to local economic development and the use of culture as a social animator.

The workshop will run from 10am to 12.30pm and is open to both members and non-members of Writers 2000. The attendance fee is R50 for members and R100 for non-members. The venue will be the Inyoni Creek Clubhouse in the Rand Aid complex, at the corner of Modderfontein and Wordsworth roads, Lyndhurst. The normal meeting of the group will take place at 2pm at the same venue.
