The I love Kensington Association hosted the Rhodes Park clean-up operation on Saturday, February 15.

The clean up was just one of the many, monthly operations which are to be held in Rhodes Park. On the day, several community members as well as pupils from the Jeppe School for Girls, attended the clean up.

Chairperson of the I love Kensington Association, Ms Lornette Joseph said, “We have called together community members to help with cleaning up the Rhodes Park area. City Parks needs more assistance with these clean ups. This is our park and we need to take ownership, so we are cleaning up the rubbish. We want this to be an initiative conducted once or twice a month.”

“We put a call out to the community, telling people we want them to assist us. Local residents and pupils from the Jeppe School for Girls came out to help. I think it is important that children are proud and involved at a young age. Children should know the importance of community work, community interaction and the importance of taking care of places like Rhodes Park,” said Ms Joseph.
