Greenstone sex pest strikes

The driver then proceeded to fondle her while he was driving.

Last week, Edenvale social media networks were abuzz with warnings of a suspected sexual predator operating in the Greenstone area.

Facebook page, I Love Edenvale, first reported the matter and was followed by several others operating in the Edenvale, Modderfontein and Greenstone areas.

The reports followed an incident where a young woman from Tembisa was coerced into the vehicle of an older man.

According to the report, the woman was walking from the Greenstone Shopping Centre to Longmeadow when the incident occurred.

It is believed that a beige coloured 4×4 stopped and the occupant, a single man, offered her a lift.

The young woman initially refused, but the driver convinced her.

The report states that as soon as the woman sat down in the vehicle the driver drove off and locked the doors.

The driver then proceeded to fondle her while he was driving.

The young woman fought off her attacker and he eventually stopped and let her out of the vehicle.

She was left traumatised by the experience.

The man has been described as a white man in his late forties with black hair.

The acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts, said no one should accept a lift from any strangers.

“This is dangerous, the young woman could have been abducted and killed,” he said.

Lt Col Roberts warned all residents to be alert when walking in Edenvale.

“Do not trust strangers, even those who seem to have good intentions,” he said.

He urged residents to report suspicious activity to the SAPS immediately using either the SAPS Sector Vehicle number or 10111.
