Robin Wheeler chats to Writers 2000

Entrepreneur and international speaker Mr Robin Wheeler coined the phrase ‘being yourself for a living’ in 1996 as an intelligent response to the rapid and dramatic changes in the world.

He has since built BEntrepreneurING into a well-known brand soon to include television shows and hotels.

Mr Wheeler spoke to Writers 2000 members at the group’s January meeting.

He worked in human resources and was not feeling fulfilled as his passion was writing.

After going through a period where his body rebelled at the life he was living, he took the bold step of changing careers and is now a prolific writer and a public speaker.

“If I did not write, I would die,” he said.

Both his grandfather and father did what they were ‘expected to’ in terms of choosing careers and providing for their families. He definitely did not want to follow in their footsteps.

Since embarking on his new road, Mr Wheeler has had three books published.

He is also a keen photographer and takes photos wherever he goes.

He enjoys writing one-liners to describe his images.

Music is another passion and he uses it in the interactive workshops he runs.

Mr Wheeler also maintains a strong independent voice in the media by often commenting on radio and television, and by writing for newspapers and magazines.

The next meeting of Writers 2000 will take place on Saturday, March 1, and the guest speaker will be renowned journalist, columnist and author, Mr Gus Silber.
