The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) will unveil an ambitious one-stop modern business network in Kempton Park, which set to attract investment to the value of R6.5-billion per annum.

The unveiling of the project will take place on Friday, January 31.

The development will mean increased domestic and foreign direct investment into Kempton Park, which will drive economic growth and combat the city’s 28.8 percent unemployment rate by creating sustainable job opportunities.

According to the EMM’s head of economic development, Caiphus Chauke, “Ekurhuleni will pull all the stops to create a favourable business environment to attract exports We seek to develop and promote exports and the provision of aftercare services for businesses and investment retention and expansion.”

“The business network boasts an investment and development application window, which caters for all major and strategic investment and development applications to be processed through an electronic document management system. This will provide an improved turnaround time for decision making regarding investments and development proposals,” said Mr Chauke.

“The business network is equipped with a sophisticated lobby lounge established for networking sessions with investors, developers and business at large. This facility will also host business delegations visiting the city for potential investment and business opportunities,” he added.

“What will be key for the Ekurhuleni residents is that the business network will house a business centre to stimulate the city’s enterprise development goals and host an array of enterprise development initiatives, focusing on entrepreneurship, incubation projects, innovation business support services and funding,” said Mr Chauke.

Mr Chauke said the centre will champion poverty alleviation efforts, economic empowerment and township economic development through the provision of economic infrastructure and market access opportunities.
