A man has registered a charge of fraud with the Edenvale SAPS after he received an e-toll account.
Acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts, said the man approached the SAPS after he received an e-toll account for a vehicle he does not own.
“While the registration plate of the vehicle does belong to the man, the vehicle was not the one for which the registration was registered,” said Lt Col Roberts.
He added that it was a clear case of a cloned registration plate.
“Unfortunately, none of the highways surrounding Edenvale fall under the jurisdiction of the Edenvale SAPS and the docket had to be transferred,” said Lt Col Roberts.
He added that residents who can prove their number plates have been cloned should visit their local police station to open a case of fraud.
