Nigerian man arrested for fraud

Investigators from the Department of Home Affairs went to an address in Yeoville to verify the man's particulars, as he was applying for a permanent resident status.

A 38-year-old Nigerian man was arrested for fraud in Yeoville on January 12.

The arrest occurred at the man’s house on the corner of Minors and Cavendish streets.

“Investigators from the Department of Home Affairs went to an address in Yeoville to verify the man’s particulars, as he was applying for a permanent resident status. When they arrived, the investigators discovered that the particulars used in his application process were fraudulent,” said Constable Thabo Malatji of the Yeoville SAPS. The suspect was arrested and detained at the Yeoville SAPS. He is expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
