Toastmasters celebrate sweet 16

Christmas when I was sweet sixteen was the theme of the Village Toastmasters Club meeting in December.

Theo Swart was voted prom king and took the award for the best costumed male of the evening.

Dressed as a hippie, Theo’s costume served to remind Village Toastmasters and their guests, of the wide social impact the hippie movement had in the decade in which Theo turned sweet sixteen.

Positive hippie values included the promotion of peace, love and creative living.

Clearly these positive values left their mark on him.

Theo also received a recognition award for the outstanding contribution he makes, not only to the Village Toastmasters Club, but also to Toastmasters South Africa.

The Village Toastmasters Club meets on the third Tuesday evening of the month, at 7.30pm, in the large hall of the Trinity Presbyterian Church on St David Road in Elma Park, Edenvale.

For more information, contact Theo Swart on 011 452-3884 or 082 626 0825.
