The incident occurred on the corner of Hunter and Fortesque streets.
“Police officers were on a routine patrol and conducting stop and search operations. They noticed two men standing on the corner of the streets. Police searched the men and found a plastic bag in the pocket of one of the men. The bag contained drugs,” said Constable Thabo Malatji of the Yeoville SAPS.
The man was arrested immediately. “As the officers were handcuffing him, the other man approached the officers and offered them R200 for the release of his friend. He was also arrested and charged with bribery,” said Const Malatji.
Both men are expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
