Brett obtains nine distinctions

Brett van Staden, a Linksfield resident, was one of two pupils at St John’s College who obtained nine distinctions in the 2013 IEB examinations.

Brett said he was extremely privileged to attend such a “fantastic school”.

Other top achievers who are local residents include Gianluca Agostinetto, from Dowerglen, Edenvale, and Benedict Didcott-Marr, from Bez Valley.

Both of them obtained eight distinctions each.

St John’s College matriculants obtained the best overall results, since the inception of the new curriculum in 2008, in the 2013 IEB examinations.

66 percent of the year group achieved an over-70 percent average.

Matriculants achieved a 100 percent matric pass rate with all 100 percent attaining university entrance at degree level.

Of 124 pupils writing, 38 pupils achieved an over-80 percent average. 55 pupils achieved an average of over 75 percent and 82 pupils achieved an over 70 percent average.

There were 334 subject distinctions.
