Adv Bizos celebrates 85th birthday
Deputy President of South Africa, Mr Kgalema Motlanthe, was the guest of honour and keynote speaker.
The founding member of Saheti School and human rights lawyer, Advocate George Bizos, was honoured at a high-profile gala event for his 85th birthday on November 30.
The celebration took place at Saheti School in Bedfordview. The event was hosted by the George Bizos Saheti Scholarship and Bursary Fund (GBSSBF) and the Legal Resources Centre (LRC).

Ms Katy Katopodis was the master of ceremonies and welcomed the guests, which included the ambassador of Greece, Mrs Maria Diamantopoulou, Archbishop Damaskinos, Speaker of Parliament Max Sisulu, the vice chancellor of the University of the Witwatersrand, Professor Adam Habib and the governor of the Reserve Bank of South Africa, Mrs Gill Marcus.
During the event, the Arethe Bizos Annual Art Auction raised over R150 000 for the benefit of the GBSSBF and the LRC. Saheti pupils, under the direction of Mrs Tania Patrikios and the musical direction of Ms Diana Cowen, presented a selection of performances for Adv Bizos and the other guests.
