Copper pipe thieves arrested

The security guard was informed that a blue Golf was on the company premises loading copper pipes into the vehicle.

Two men were arrested for being in possession of stolen copper pipes worth R60 000 on 12 December at Alamein street.

According to the Bedfordview SAPS communications Officer, Sergeant Mduduzi Nhlabathi, “An on-duty security guard received an alert via radio from the control room at the firm.

The security guard was informed that a blue Golf was on the company premises loading copper pipes into the vehicle.

The security guard went to the vehicle and the occupants inside the car with the copper.

When the security guard questioned the suspects, they claimed they had bought the copper from another on-duty security guard.

The two suspects were subsequently arrested.
