Every year the editor of the group’s magazine, The Write Stuff, issues two writing challenges to members.

The theme for the Christmas Challenge this year was the best party ever and was won by Mary Geddes for her entry, The Best Garden Party Ever.

For the Cheeky Challenge, the writers had to use Mary, Mary Quite Contrary as their inspiration and Brian Mc Grady won with his poem Mary, Mary Not Quite Contrary.

Committee members of Writers 2000 hold office for two years and the current committee was voted in during 2012, which means elections will take place again in 2014.

However, as two long-serving members, Dorothy Grist who served as secretary and Mavis Briggs who worked as deputy editor stepped down, two new committee members were needed.

Tessa Moodley and Mary Geddes were voted in as the new members.

The first meeting of the group for 2014 will take place at 2pm on January 25 at the Inyoni Creek Clubhouse situated on the corner of Modderfontein and Wordsworth Roads, Edenvale.
