New Yeoville SAPS building takes shape

There have been a number of strikes at the construction site that saw the date of completion being pushed to June of 2014.

The construction of the new Yeoville SAPS building is continuing and no disruptions have been experienced.

The project was due to be completed in January 2014, but the date was pushed back. The delays were mainly due to labour-related issues between the construction company and the employees.

Members of the community were unhappy with people from outside the area of Yeoville getting employed ,instead of locals being employed.

There have been a number of strikes at the construction site that saw the date of completion being pushed to June of 2014.

The EXPRESS has reported about the construction taking too long in previous editions.

When The Express visited the site this week, it was business as usual. Workers were hard at work, trucks delivering material and brick layers going about their business.

“Everything is on track; disruptions are a thing of the past. We are looking at finishing around June next year,” said Mr Patrick Wisani, who is the Community Liaisons Officer for the project.
