Baby angels honoured

The SAEC Kempton Park Pipe Band performed Amazing Grace, before hundreds of balloons, each of which symbolised a child lost, were released into the air.

Children who died an untimely death were honoured at the annual Baby Angles in Heaven event in Modderfontein on November 30.

Baby Angles in Heaven is an organisation that assists parents who have lost children, or who cannot afford medical bills. It was started by Mrs Nicole Vermaak, after her son drowned in rain water that had collected in an empty pool in Kempton Park.

The event was held at the South African Emergency Care (SAEC) facility in Modderfontein.

Netcare 911 demonstrated how to perform CPR, specifically on children, and firefighters performed a burnout – whereby they demonstrate how to combat an industrial fire. Road safety was also demonstrated.

Funds raised will go towards assisting children who cannot afford medical-related issues.

A pool safety net was given away as part of a lucky draw competition.
