D-day for e-toll

According to South African National Roads Agency Limited (Sanral) 800 000 tags have been sold.

Under this extended post-grace period discount offer, motorists who register an e-toll account and then settle the outstanding invoices for the period December 3, 2013 to February 28, 2014, before July 1, 2014, will only be liable to pay the standard toll tariff.

At midnight, e-toll gantries on Gauteng’s major routes went live.

A number of alternate routes were severely congested this morning.

In addition to the burden on Gauteng motorists, at midnight tonight the petrol price will increase by 17c per litre while the price of diesel will increase by 10c per litre.

Many have taken to social media to express their anger.
