Sentencing in kidnapping case postponed

The sentencing of a couple found guilty of kidnapping has been postponed to December 6.

Khalid Ayub and Khadija Khan were found guilty of kidnapping, attempted murder and robbery in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on October 23.

Sentencing was due to take place in November but the case was postponed to December because authorities are waiting for a report from a social worker.

The couple was found guilty of kidnapping Revelation Jones from his home in Bez Valley and beating the nanny, Ms Veronique Ndomba, earlier this year.

Last week Revelation’s mother, Ms Khanyisile Mnisi, said she was not expecting a delay.

“I just want this case to end. The judge said he was waiting for a report from the social worker to make a fair ruling. This is understandable but I hope the case ends in December,” she said.
