Three arrested for business robbery

Further investigations led to the arrest of the other two suspects the following day, at the corner of Hopkins and Cavendish streets.

Three men have been arrested for business robbery after a shop was robbed in Muller Street on October 31.

“The men took money and assaulted the owner with a bottle, hitting him on the head. When he screamed, they ran away. Members of the community managed to apprehend one of the men and called the police,” said Constable Thabo Malatji of the Yeoville SAPS.

Further investigations led to the arrest of the other two suspects the following day, at the corner of Hopkins and Cavendish streets.

“The police recovered an unlicensed firearm with its serial number filed off. An additional charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm was added,” said Const Malatji.

The men are expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition soon.
