“We try to give dignity back to women because women today and feel neglected. We encourage them every year and try bring Ubuntu back into the women and children,” said Ms Jacobs.

The monthly Community Women’s Forum meeting took place on Saturday, October 26, at the Methodist Church in Malvern.

The event, organised by chairperson Nazeema Abrahams, saw guest speaker Ruth Jacobs present a lecture. The forum concentrated on spreading breast cancer awareness and sought to give the audience a better understanding of how to detect breast cancer and where to go for help.

“We try to give dignity back to women because women today and feel neglected. We encourage them every year and try bring Ubuntu back into the women and children,” said Ms Jacobs.

“The forum helps because mothers and daughters attend and this allows us to discuss things mothers wouldn’t normally discuss with their children. We feel mothers and daughters should know about certain matters. These forums might be small, but the knowledge the mothers and daughters get will help them in the future,” said Ms Abrahams.
