SPCA benefits from world record

A new world record, for the collection of the largest amount of pet food in a seven day period, was set at the Pet & Me Lifestyle Expo.

The Bedfordview and Germiston SPCA recently benefited from a successful attempt to break a world record.

A new world record, for the collection of the largest amount of pet food in a seven day period, was set at the Pet & Me Lifestyle Expo.

The pet expo was held during October 11 to 13 at the Coca Cola Dome in Northgate.

Complete Dog Food and dedicated teams supported the non-profit rescue and shelter organisations in the greater Gauteng area. Organisers of the event aimed to collect more than 15 tonnes of food for the SPCA, Puppy Haven, Animal Anti Cruelty League and others.

In 2006, the record was held by Fuji and Pick n Pay for the Boksburg SPCA. This record was smashed earlier this year by the Living Hope Church in Vancouver, USA, who raised 9,8 tonnes.

A new, record-breaking amount of 10,009 tonnes, was collected.

“We at the SPCA Bedfordview and Germiston are most grateful and appreciative for the fantastic donation of pet food we collected. A huge thank you to all the organisers for a really great and enjoyable event at the Pet & Me Lifestyle Expo,” said Bedfordview and Germiston SPCA manager, Mr Laurence Kingston.
