Nappy Run highlights needs

The annual Nappy Run will end its 2013 campaign with a five kilometre fun run event at the Johannesburg Zoo on Sunday, November 3.

The fun run event aims to acknowledge and celebrate children with disabilities the day after National Children’s Day, which is celebrated on November 2.

According to the annual state of the world’s children report, conducted by the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef), children with disabilities and their communities would benefit if society focused on what those children can achieve, rather than what they cannot.

The report was released in May this year.

Based on the findings of the report this year, the Nappy Run aims to draw attention to children with disabilities.

The Nappy Run is organised by the National Council for Persons with Physical Disabilities in South Africa (NCPPDSA) whose head office is situated in Edenvale.

This year’s slogan for the Nappy Run is “children with disabilities, our future with abilities”.
