Search for human remains called off

Captain Leslie Bowler, from Cleveland SAPS, said no other remains were found during the search yesterday.

A human skull and lower limbs from the hips down were discovered on Sunday in Kensington.

According to authorities, a security guard saw a skull stuck in a drain close to Kitchener Avenue and Lancaster Street.

Police were contacted and the skull was retrieved. Other remains were also seen in a drain. Police with the help of Emergency Management Services and other authorities retrieved the remains.

Captain Leslie Bowler, from Cleveland SAPS, said no other remains were found during the search yesterday. “We tried to find the upper body. Now we just have to see if it comes up with the rains. It could go down to Bruma Lake. It may get stuck in the reeds. The search was called off when the remaining body parts were not found,” said Capt Bowler.
