A man has been arrested for armed robbery in Observatory.
The incident occurred at the corner of Eckstein and De Larey streets on October 13.
“A man approached the victim and robbed him of his cellular phone. As the suspect fled the scene, the victim noticed police officers who were driving in a nearby street. The victim stopped the officers and informed them of what had just happened,” said Constable Thabo Malatji of the Yeoville SAPS.
The swift reaction from the policemen led to the arrest of the suspect a few blocks away from the scene.
“The man is expected to appear in the Hillbrow Magistrate’s Court soon,” said Const Malatji.
