More surprises at park

Three months after the NEWS exposed drug use at Surprise Park in Edenglen, more drug paraphernalia has been found.

Operations director for Mamba Strike Force, Mr Kevin Norman, was patrolling the area when he stopped near the park.

Mr Norman informed the NEWS that it seemed as though drug use in the park had continued.

When the NEWS visited the area, it was littered with home-made pipes used for smoking narcotic substances and empty condom packets.

In July, the Edenvale SAPS said the area and situation would be monitored and an investigation would be conducted.

Last week, acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts said while officers regularly patrol the area, they have been unable to catch drug users at the park.

“It is important for residents neighbouring the park to contact the Edenvale SAPS immediately when suspicious activity takes place in the park,” he said.
