Man kidnapped by house robbers

A man was robbed and kidnapped from his house in Oxford Road on Monday.

He was later found handcuffed in his vehicle on Plantation Road.

According to the Bedfordview SAPS communications officer, Sergeant Mduduzi Nhlabathi, the victim fell asleep while watching television when he was awoken just after 12am by a man with a flashlight and firearm aimed at him. In total, five assailants stood in front of him with their faces covered with balaclavas.

“They demanded a safe. He showed them his safe and the men stole a large amount of money and a firearm. He was then ordered into his vehicle, an Audi Q7,” said Sgt Nhlabathi.

When the suspects reached Plantation Road they handcuffed his hands behind his back, locked the car and fled the scene.

Police were notified about the robbery and discovered the abandoned vehicle.

The man was freed and did not have any injuries.
