Creative needlework exhibition in Edenvale

Residents are invited to join exhibitors for tea and scones to discover the charm of antique and modern hand embroidered heirlooms.

Among other antique embroidery items that will be on show, are a number of Holy Rabbinical cloths that are between 300 and 400 years old and an English sampler dated 1829.

On display will be a selection of Crewel, wool and ribbon embroideries as well as cross-stitch, goldwork, stumpwork and handmade quilts.

There will also be a variety of handmade wooden toys and machine embroideries for sale, as well as embroidery kits, cottons and fabrics.

The event will take place from Friday, August 23 to Sunday, August 25.

On August 23, the exhibition will be open from 2.30pm to 4.30pm, on August 24 the event will be open from 10.30an to 4.30pm and on August 25 the show will be open from 11am to 4.30pm.

It will take place at 5 St Teresa Road, Hurlyvale, Edenvale.

Entrance to the event will cost R25 per person and R10 for pensioners. The cover charge includes tea and scones.

Proceeds from the event will be given to Little Eden.
