Ekurhuleni gets new vehicles

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) is getting over 250 new cars for its five departments.

During the council meeting last Thursday, EMM’s Executive Mayor Clr Mondli Gungubele, said the fleet is worth R170 million.

“These vehicles were acquired to enhance our existing service delivery programme and equip staff with the necessary tools to carry out their mandate. It is our belief that the community must be taken on board to see just how some of the money paid for rates and taxes is spent in an endeavour to better their lives,” said the mayor .

The Disaster and Emergency Management Service Department received 66 vehicles, including 48 ambulances.

The Waste Management Services Department received 57 new waste management trucks. The EMPD was given 129 vehicles while Water Services received 18 water tankers. The Health and Social Development received two mobile clinics.
