The incident, a business robbery, took place on Friday last week in Albert Road, Meadowdale, just after 1am.
After the incident, Bedfordview SAPS corporate communications officer, Sergeant Mduduzi Nhlabathi, said that an alarm went off and the security guard called for backup.
“The four men were already inside the premises. When they saw that they were cornered, they started shooting at the security officers and the officers retaliated. Three of the men were certified dead by the paramedics on the scene while the fourth person escaped. A security officer was rushed to hospital in a serious but stable condition,” said Sgt Nhlabathi.
He added that when the police were combing the scene, a firearm was found
“This firearm has been positively linked to the incident. It belongs to one of these men,” he said.
