Krejcir survives assassination attempt

Bedfordview SAPS is investigating the attempted murder of Bedfordview resident and Czech businessman, Mr Radovan Krejcir on Wednesday last week.

Bedfordview SAPS corporate communications officer, Sergeant Mduduzi Nhlabathi, said that the incident happened just after 10am at Mr Krejcir’s business premises in Bradford Road.

He said Mr Krejcir parked his Mecedes Benz at his usual parking space, next to a red VW Polo.

“Moments after he got out of his car, firing came from the VW Polo that was parked on the right hand side of his car. He ran into his office. Bullets were firing towards his car as he was running. As the firing continued, the Polo exploded,” Sgt Nhlabathi said.

Sgt Nhlabathi said that if Mr Krejcir’s car was not bullet-proofed, the damage to his vehicle would have been worse.

“The investigation will confirm what kinds of weapons were used but it looks like projectiles were used in this attack,” Sgt Nhlabathi said.

He added that it was discovered that the Polo was reported stolen in Brixton in April.

Sgt Nhlabathi said the motive of the attack is not yet clear. He added that a case of attempted murder has been opened.
