Two bodies found in Edenvale

The bodies of two men, believed to be vagrants, were found in Edenvale last week.

The men, who were found at two separate locations, have not been identified yet.

Acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts, said the first of the two bodies was found close to Sizwe Hospital on Tuesday last week by a passer-by.

“With the help of Southern Africa Emergency Services Management (SAEMS) and the Johannesburg Fire Department, the man’s body was removed from the river.

“At this stage we believe the man may have been in the water for about two weeks,” Lt Col Roberts said.

The second body was found in a river in Hurlyvale on Thursday.

“Members of Ekurhuleni’s Emergency Services (EES) assisted with the recovery of the man’s body,” he said.

Lt Col Roberts said no foul play was suspected in any of the deaths and inquest dockets have been opened for investigation.

“We believe that the two men were vagrants living in fields close to where their bodies were found. Anyone who may have reported someone missing or who may have information about the two unidentified men, should contact the Edenvale SAPS as soon as possible,” he said.
