EMPD donates essentials to school

Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) celebrated Mandela Day by donating basic equipment to the Ezibeleni School for the Disabled in Katlehong.

EMPD’s spokesperson, Chief Superintendent Wilfred Kgasago, said the Public Order Policing Unit that led the campaign.

“Members of the unit joined hands and accumulated enough funds to purchase two microwave ovens, three ironing boards, three irons, three eight-fin heaters and two desktop personal computers with monitors,” said Chief Supt Kgasago.

He added that Gauteng Community Safety Department, Correctional Service, local business and other businesses also donated blankets, sheets, cakes and toiletries to the school.

“We believe that this will make life easier for management of the school as well as the disabled students. Plans are afoot, in the spirit of giving as advocated by Madiba, to ensure that the school is never short of basics by periodically donating whatever is essential to make the students’ life as comfortable as possible,” he said.
