Woman shot, injured during botched hijacking

The Edenvale SAPS has confirmed that a woman was shot in the arm on Saturday night last week during an attempted hijacking in Palliser Road.

According to acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts, the woman was followed to her house and it was believed she was in possession of a large sum of money.

“As the woman pulled up to her front gate, a man approached her driver’s side window. He then pointed a firearm at her,” he said.

“The woman quickly put her car in reverse and manoeuvred out of her driveway. The man, attempting to rob the woman, fired a round into the vehicle which hit the woman in the arm,” Lt Col Roberts said.

During the confusion, the man dropped his firearm in the woman’s vehicle before she drove off.

“The firearm was handed to the Edenvale SAPS for investigation,” Lt Col Roberts said.
