Police officers commended for arrests

Jeppe SAPD crime intelligent officers were commended for the arrests made earlier this month.

Warrant Officer Richard Munyai, Jeppe SAPS communications officer, said people were arrested for murder, dealing in drugs and bribery. Vehicles were also recovered.

“On July 2 police officers received information about people who were involved in ATM bombings. They went to a house in Cumberland Road, in Kensington. They found three brand new BMWs, a Mercedes Benz and a Range Rover. There was no-one at the house. The vehicles were reported stolen in Benoni and Midrand in 2012 and 2013 respectively. The suspects ‘bought’ them from dealerships fraudulently,” said W/O Munyai.

On July 4 police officers received information about a man who was wanted for murder and house robbery in KwaZulu-Natal.

“The man and his friend allegedly entered a house in Ladysmith in May and shot dead a 91-year-old woman before they took items from the house,” said W/O Munyai.

The man fled to Gauteng and was hiding in Doornfontein.

He was arrested and sent back to KwaZulu-Natal.

A 42-year-old man was also arrested for dealing in dagga on July 9.

“Police officers arrested a man for possession of dagga. He took the police officers to a dealer in Bez Valley. The man was found with dagga worth R10 000 and a scale which we believe he used to weigh the dagga. He offered the police officers R1 400. He was arrested and charged with dealing in dagga and trying to bribe police officers,” said W/O Munyai.
