Six arrested for dagga

Bedfordview SAPS arrested six people that were found in possession of dagga in two days this week.

The station’s corporate communications officer, Sergeant Mduduzi Nhlabathi said that these people were arrested in different places.

“This is part of our intense fight against drug abuse. We call on the community to come to party help us fight this scourge. When you see or suspect that someone is using drugs or that there are drugs in any premise, let us know. You may call the sector numbers, police station or crime line. You can report anonymously,” Sgt Nhlabathi said.

He said on Tuesday, men were arrested in Elandsfontein for smoking dagga on separate incidents.

“Around 1pm police were patrolling in the area. One was arrested at the taxi rank in Amber Street. The other was arrested further up on the same street,” he said.

He added that four more were arrested in Elandsfontein and Meadowdale.

“Three were arrested in different places in Elansfontein during the stop and search operations. One was arrested on Atlas Road. The other on Sam Green and the other on Hattingh Street. All of them were arrested around 8am. The other one was arrested on Fleming Road in Meadowdale on the same day after 9am,” Sgt Nhlabathi said.

He said all of these men were arrested of being in possession of dagga.
