Friends to host Mandela Day farm clean-up

Friends of Horwood’s Farm will host its Mandela Day clean-up on July 21, from 10am to 3pm.

Mandela Day aims to celebrate the legacy of former president Nelson Mandela.
Large numbers of community members gather annually to offer 67 minutes of their time to make a difference in their respective communities.
“We call upon all residents of Edenvale and surrounding areas to join in the spirit with many others worldwide and dedicate 67 minutes of their time to this worthy cause,” said Edenvale resident, Mr Henry Sole.
Volunteers on the day will repaint the ablution facilities, clean the children’s playground area, attend to the edges along pathways and clean up refuse along the river running through the park.
All volunteers are asked to bring along brooms, rakes and spades.
There will be limited additional garden implements on the day for volunteers who do not have a supply.
Anyone who would like to make donations or who can assist in any way on the day, can contact Friends of Horwood’s Farm founding member, Mrs Sharon Lendrum-Frittelli, on 082 606 0906 or e-mail shaze@iafrica.com
Mr Brad Schott has agreed to arrange for a crafter’s market to be held on the day.
The craft market will be placed in front of the historic Horwood’s Farm farmhouse.
For more information or to book a stall, contact Mr Schott via e-mail at bschott@gmail.com
There will be no charge for crafters but each must supply their own tables.
There will be a supply of electricity if needed.
All pensioners are invited to have a free cup of tea and a cupcake or scone at the tea garden and there will be free hot dogs, bacon rolls and soup for all volunteers who work on the day.
