Fitness fun at open day

There was kicking, jumping and lots of sweating as the children tried out training programmes tailor-made for them.

Children of all ages built their muscles and worked their torsos at the Sci-Fit Performance Centre’s open day, which featured a free complimentary session for children.

There was kicking, jumping and lots of sweating as the children tried out training programmes tailor-made for them. They also learnt how to defend themselves using military self-defense method Krav Maga.

The open day was held recently at the Edenvale Soccer grounds.

Sci-Fit Sports Scientist Monique Ferreira said fitness in children was important to help with child obesity, maintaining weight, increasing endurance, increasing hand/eye coordination, mental fitness, competitiveness, health, increasing strength, developing confidence, and cardiorespiratory fitness.

“Our classes include body weight exercises, toning, functional training, high intensity training, boxing, basic exercises, multi-joint exercises, skipping, sprinting, agility drills, and more,” said Ferreira.

Classes are available for children and adults aged four years and upwards, and are suited to the age and fitness level of the person participating.
