Edenvale hosts international competition

"It was an ideal time to see young players in action."

The Edenvale Bowling Club hosted an international quadrangular tournament, featuring teams from Zimbabwe, Namibia and South Africa in the fours, trips, pairs and singles competition on July 30.

“It was an ideal time to see young players in action, dispelling the myth that bowls is only for the elderly, and to see the skill and dexterity displayed by the more seasoned players,” said Edenvale Bowling Club secretary, Ms Judy Hall.

“It was the first time a competition of this magnitude has been held at the Edenvale Bowling Club. It was an honour for us to host our visiting bowlers,” said Ms Hall.

The Proteas won against Namibia and Zimbabwe in both the women’s and men’s categories.

In the round 5 pairs, the Proteas’ final score was 19; Zimbabwe 10 and Namibia 13.

The Open women’s results, round 5 pairs, saw the Proteas score 16; Zimbabwe 16 and Namibia 14.
