Teams prepare for league

African Stars Academy won the match beating Jonas FC 3-0.

The African Stars Academy played against the Jonas Football Club (FC) at the Rhodes Park Football field on March 5.

African Stars Academy won the match, defeating Jonas FC 3-0.

The game was a friendly match played between the two U/12 teams in preparation for the league that starts later in March.

African Stars Academy’s coach, Junior Kayun, said he felt confident about his team even though it was just a friendly match.

“It’s obvious that we are going to win,” said Kayun before the match.

Kayun’s teams are doing well, winning their matches and putting up a tough fight for the opposition.

The field itself was not in a good condition, as it had large patches of sand, very little in the sense of markings, litter on it, as well as long grass that would “squelch” when players ran through it.

“The field is not good, but we have no choice because the children want to play,” said Kayun.

No matter the conditions, both teams played well, but it was African Stars Academy’s players who enjoyed victory on the day.

Kayun’s U/10 team also played well on Saturday, winning against Inner City Ambassadors.
