Edenvale FC defeats Boksburg FC
The Edenvale FC players failed to deal with a cross and the visitors were able to open the scoring, after a well-taken goal.
Edenvale FC had to dig deep to clinch their 3-2 win against Boksburg FC, during their U/16 division 2 match played at the Edenvale Sports Grounds on Sunday, August 10.
The visitors made their intentions clear within the opening five minutes, putting pressure on the home team. This resulted in a free-kick being awarded to Boksburg FC.

Both teams kept sending numbers forward, hoping to get a goal to settle the nerves. After various attempts, the home team managed to score an equaliser late in the second half through a goal from Obakeng.
At half-time the teams were tied at 1-1.
The second half began at a high tempo, with both teams looking to score early. A mistake at the back led to Edenvale FC conceding an own goal.
The home team kept their heads up and kept searching for a goal. It took a brace from Edenvale FC player, Bonga, to equalise and score the winner in the last five minutes of the game. The match ended with the score 3-2, in favour of Edenvale.
The Edenvale FC coach, Julian Speel, was happy with the team’s performance.
“We were 2-1 down early in the second half, but the players showed character and a fighting spirit. We tried the boys in new positions on Sunday and overall I was happy with the effort the boys put in,” said coach Speel.
