Kensington Spring Fair

One of the suburb’s longest traditions which attracts thousands of people, the Kensington Spring Fair, is about to take place.

The fair will take place on September 1 from 9am to 4 pm in Rhodes Park near the lake. The entry fee is R1 per person.

People who bring dogs are requested to keep them on a leash. Volunteers from the I Love Kensington Association (ILKA) and the community organise the fair and all funds raised are donated to charities in Kensington and surrounds.

Entertainment will be provided by a variety of artists. The food stalls will cater for various tastes ranging from boerewors rolls, mini donuts, Chip and Dip, Indian and Chinese cuisine.

This is a day out for the whole family with diverse stalls from arts and crafts, esoteric, bric-à-brac, farmers’ stalls, and deli stalls to local churches, schools and community organisations being represented at the fair in various ways as well.

Applications for stalls can be obtained from the Kensington Spring Fair Facebook page, the Rhodes Park Library or e-mail springfair@kensington.org.za

Closing date for application is August 19. More helpers are needed to work as marshalls on the morning of the fair to help vendors find their allocated stalls.

All high school children interested in getting some community service hours are requested to e-mail chair@kensington.org.za to volunteer their services.

Community service certificates will be handed out on the day.
