Two women arrested for fraud

A woman tried to run away when asked to confirm her cellular phone number at a clothing chain store in Eastgate on Sunday, July 7 after 2pm.

Bedfordview SAPS corporate communications officer, Sergeant Mduduzi Nhlabathi, said that three women were standing in the queue at the till when one of them produced a card to pay for the clothes she had,

“When the teller asked her to sign, she became hesitant. The teller then asked her to confirm her cellular phone number.

“She said she had forgotten it. She said she would go to another woman who was a few metres away from the till, to confirm it for her,” Sgt Nhlabathi said.

He added that the woman went out of the store and started running.

Sgt Nhlabathi said that two women were arrested and that the police is looking for the third woman.
