City of Ekurhuleni celebrates Heritage Day

South Africans of all races and cultural backgrounds use Heritage Day to celebrate their diversity and learn from other cultures.

The CoE hosted a Heritage Day event to celebrate and mark the annual national cultural holiday, allowing the diversity of SA cultures to be on public display.

The event at the Hunters Field stadium saw people wear traditional outfits and perform dances associated with their cultures. Basotho men showcased the traditional mohobelo (stomping dance comprising synchronised movements and high kicks) dance, which signifies unity among all ethnic groups in the country, general entertainment and a reminder of the richness of our nation’s cultural heritage.
